Anti-M Alloimmunization following Term Stillbirth: A Case Report and Review of the Literature

Abstract Alloimmunization due to anti-M antibodies are rare since they present as naturally occurring immunoglobulin M antibodies, which do not cross the placenta. Very rarely, these may convert G and cause hemolytic disease of fetus newborn. We case a fifth gravida, with previous two miscarriages an unexplained stillbirth, booked us for 8 weeks. At booking, she was found have titers 1:2, stable throughout pregnancy. 35 weeks, there evidence severe fetal anemia features hydrops on ultrasound scan, requiring delivery. Neonatal direct Coombs test positive. Baby had hemoglobin 8.8 mg/dL reticulocyte count 5.5% at birth, units blood transfusion. He also required 6 days intensive phototherapy. should be suspected in women bad obstetric history. The maternal antibody true reflection severity affection, hence reliable monitoring pregnancy
